dates of stay: July 30th - August 14th

I'm Angela Rawlings, known in the Canadian literary world as a.rawlings. I'll be introduced to the Film Fabrik experience for the first time this year as I travel with StarkaĆ°ur Barkarson. YAY!!

WHO AM I?

I currently straddle the Atlantic Ocean, with one foot resting in my new home of Iceland and the other planted in my established home of Canada. The last decade, I have worked as an experimental poet, interdisciplinary artist, and arts educator. In 2006, I published my first book, Wide slumber for lepidopterists (Coach House Books). Since then, I've spent much time traveling within Canada and internationally to lecture on poetry and perform my work. Wikipedia says this about me. PennSound has audio/video clips of my work.

MAD SKILLZ

- English copywriting and editing. If you have a script or other kind of text on which you'd enjoy feedback, I'm happy to help. If you need something written in English, I can also assist with this.

- "Acting." A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, I performed in theatre plays and starred in one student film. More recently, I hosted a Canadian television documentary series on poetry. If you need a body that is roughly my shape, size, look, texture, and/or sound, then I'd be happy to fill that role.

- Sound. I have no great skill here, but would love to learn more. I have a handheld audio recorder (Zoom HN4) that I've been diligently learning to use, and I've been doing some field sound recordings of assorted waterfalls and hot springs around Iceland so my ears are prepped for acute listening.

- Organizing. Do you need help? Ask me! My dirty little secret is that I love administrative work.

- Vocal improvisation. Well, you never know unless you offer, right? I have an extensive background in vocal improvisation, so if you happen to be looking for some unusual sounds, ask me. Similarly, if for some reason a vocal warm-up is wanted, let's play.

- Contact improvisation. Again, you never know unless you offer. I have an ancient background in dance, though my only real gestures in this area (aside from as a viewer) have been in the realms of contact improvisation and learning basic tango with StarkaĆ°ur.

- Poetry. Obviously, if for some bizarre and beautiful reason you're in serious need of experimental poetry, I humbly offer my services to find you what you desire or to create something appropriate.

- Anything. I'm enthusiastic to be helpful, so would be pleased to assist in any kind of capacity. Need some duct tape? Sparkling water? Powdered wig? Want that stick painted with tiger stripes? Desperate for photocopies? Wishing the weather would change its ways? I'll do my best to help.

- Kitchen. I can help Diddi chop onions, and I make a rather wonderful lemon-ginger-honey tea for those needing a moment's rest.
