FILM FABRIK PRAHA: DAY TWENTY SEVEN

Last day of Film Fabrik 3.

Raphael is the first to leave early in the morning when some of us are still up from the party last night.
Then PH... then Andrea... and Sam... and Florent... and the rest will go later today or in a few days.

The lights in the movie theater are turning on. The film is finally over. The team that has shared so much and lived together so intensely for a month simply splits and everyone goes back to the "normal" course of their lives.

But if you just look back at the stories in this blog and imagine the ones that could not be put into words, you will know that Fim Fabrik 3 will live forever in the hearts of those who made it.

We can only hope that Film Fabrik 4 will come soon enough...

THE END

FILM FABRIK PRAHA: DAY TWENTY SIX

The end is near. Today is our last full day together...

But before we start cleaning and party hard one last time, the crew gets a very pleasant surprise in the morning: today a bird trainer comes at the Meetfactory.

The trainer brings 2 huge ravens with him. One is 6 years old, full of life, but still a bit wild and easily upset, the other is 28 years old and has a unique relationship with its trainer.

Armande, as the rest of us, is over excited.

After a few precautions to avoid scaring the birds to much, we shoot. The action is Marie walking in the corridor with a raven passing very close to her.

The first raven is so big that it scares Marie the first time it passes by her head. But the next takes are good and the shots are magnificent.
And they better be, because Marie was not the only one to come close to danger for them!
Sam gets attacked by the raven. His boom scares the bird apparently. Fortunately our soundguy comes back victorious from the fight with only very small bruises and a good story to tell his future grandchildren...

Now Armande's shooting is really over!
It's great, but it also means that FilmFabrik 3 is almost done...

In the afternoon we clean the Meetfactory, before preparing our last party.
It takes place at the local bar near the school. The garden is actually very nice and they have a big barbecue that we can use.

People drink, people laugh, people sing and play music, people make emotional speeches...
The team offers Veronika a small appreciation of their gratitude for all her work this past month. It's a replica of Andrea's set filled with tokens from the 5 movies.
People drink more, people laugh more, people sing more, people make more emotional speeches...

The festivities go along until the sun rises and that we must say goodbye once more...

FILM FABRIK PRAHA: DAY TWENTY FIVE

As we got to shoot a scene in advance tomorrow, work starts late today. So the team takes this opportunity to sleep, relax or/and go into town visit Prague a little more.

At dusk we resume shooting. This is our last night to shoot on the tracks in the darkness and there is still a lot to do. But coffee has been made and the team is ready.

We shoot, and we shoot and we shoot, but we finally make it. At 4:30 AM we finish the last official shot of Armande's movie so we go celebrate quickly before the "Goodbye party" tomorrow.

FILM FABRIK PRAHA: DAY TWENTY FOUR

To sleep or not to sleep!

Though the team went to bed quite late last night or quite early this morning depending on how you look at it, we all wake up around 7:00 AM. Today we start by shooting ravens at the zoo and our appointment cannot be missed.

The crew and Armande in particular are very exited about this opportunity. Getting real birds for the movie is incredible and will had so much to the ambiance.

Unfortunately the cage in which the ravens live is very small and Armande cannot get real decent shots out of it. So the crew gets back to the Meetfactory earlier than expected.

The general mood is a bit down. After the cops last night, has destiny decided to stop FilmFabrik? Should the team give up after so much effort?

Of course not! Veronika like a super hero (Captain Czech Republic?) comes back to the rescue and announces that, though it is Sunday, she got the official papers to shoot on the tracks.

No more problems with the cops, we can resume shooting as we wanted. Moral comes back so the team gathers once more and even starts shooting in the afternoon some scenes in the corridor that were supposed to be done only tomorrow.

At night we shoot on schedule though as the team is exhausted from tension and sleep deprivation, we wrap up sooner than usual.

FILM FABRIK PRAHA: DAY TWENTY THREE

Shooting does not start before the end of the afternoon so the crew sleeps late for once.

Today we lose Sonya, Petra and Audun who go back to Berlin. So we decide to all go for lunch on an island near the Meetfactory and relax before we say goodbye.

The restaurant does not look like much, but it has a big garden and a beautiful view on Vysehrad Citadel. Everyone relaxes the way they know best: Marie does a little yoga, PH and Florent play ping pong, Sam gets half naked and everyone drinks.

Lunch is very nice with a salad kind of buffet and an Hungarian Goulash to die for.

3:00 PM already and we have to say goodbye to Petra, Sonya and Audun before we return to the Meetfactory to shoot.

At dusk the team resumes shooting. In the scene Marie is by the window playing with a dead butterfly.
At night we shoot more railtracks scenes and more animation scenes.

Things are going pretty well when filming is interrupted by the Police. Though we have the right to be here, we're missing the rigth papers and the cops force us out of the set...
The crew is frustated, but we got most of what we were supposed to shoot so the movie is not compromised.

Anyway, it's time for us to releave the tension caused by this small incident and the team gathers at the local bar for beers, whisky, music and dancing...

At 4:00 AM we finally let the bartender go to sleep and we head back to school.

FILM FABRIK PRAHA: DAY TWENTY TWO

It's Armande's Blindsight" preparation day.

People wake up late after the party last night and we meet around 1:00 PM to get briefed by Armande.
Things are going to be quite different for this shoot. Most of the filming will be done outside by the railtracks during late afternoon and at night.

After a short break, we meet again at 4:00 PM to go over the set. The company in charge of the railtracks has allowed us to shoot in parts where tracks are not used. Still we need to be careful and most of the crew wears flashy jackets.

Around 7:00 PM we start shooting. Leo's costume looks awesome though its warm and heavy for Marie.
Light is beautiful and the shots look really good.

After diner the crew splits up.
One team is in charge of animation. The idea is take picture after picture of bugs to imitate small vibration of their bodies and wings.
The other team goes on with the regular shooting.

For one scene, Armande wants to recreate the lights of a passing train. Therefore Andrea comes with a "machine" made of lights and an umbrella that perfectly does the trick.

Things are going well and we wrap up shooting around 2:00 AM.

FILM FABRIK PRAHA: DAY TWENTY ONE

Last shooting day for Agnar.

The team starts outside for more shots of Erpur killing Marion. Happy Times!
It's nice to get in the sun after yesterday's clostrophobic atmosphere and things move fast.

In the afternoon, the mood is different. The crew shoots the bathroom scenes where Erpur gets to hang himself and see his bloody hand in the sink. More Happy times!

Work from Veronika and Petra is awesome and the special effects look great. The last shot where Erpur's head floats in the sink is tremendous.

In the meantime, more of the crew enjoy Monika's amazing massages...

Once the shooting is over, it's time to party once more and celebrate Agnar's great work.
This time we go fire up the dancefloor of the Meetfactory that is hosting a cool electro party tonight.

FILM FABRIK PRAHA: DAY TWENTY

The FilmFabrik Crew journeys deeper and deeper into the darkness of Agnar's movie.

Today, the shooting takes place in the corridor of the Meetfactory that looks more frigthening than ever. The story today is Erpur killing Marion then finding himself over her dead body...

The day is long as there are many diffucult shots to make.
A scene in particular requires a long preparation as Erpur must throw Marion towards the floor on a matress without hurting her.
After a few tries Erpur masters the "Marion's throw", but it sure still looks painful for Marion. She does not seem to mind, probably already preparing herself for the role of the "dead girl".

The last shot requires ingenuity from our set and props designers, Veronika and Petra, as blood needs to slowly flow from Marion's head. The effect is impressive and the shot, greatly filmed by Diddi with a slider, is magnificent!

But the day is not all dark!
Monika brings her massage table in the afternoon and offers some of the crew good relaxing time. Monika's skills are impressive as shown by the completely relaxed faces of Veronika and Marion after their appointments...

FILM FABRIK PRAHA: DAY NINETEEN

Exciting day for Agnar and the crew. The first day of shooting for "Pardons the loving" takes place in a bar called the "Black Widow".

The place is small and dim, but cosy as much as an Irish pub can be. It is the perfect place to enjoy a Guinness in Prague and Agnar would know as he is a regular here.

The premises of the set forces the light and camera crews to adjust as it is very different from the huge spaces of the Meetfactory.

Veronika gets to work to prepare the set, recreating a bar full of life yet matching Agnar's mood for the movie.

Shooting starts around 10:00 AM and it has to move fast as we need to leave the place before the customers come in for their evening beers.

The crew manages to go swiftly, reinforced by the good lunch brought by Sonya and Petra. At 7:00PM we wrap up to let the bartender get ready for his shift.

When we come back to the Meetfactory, the living room has been redecoreated by Armande and Marie and the crew relaxes around another excellent meal from the Finnish Mother/Daughter team.
